Meet Our Team


Principal Investigator – Lynne Lafave


Dr. Lynne Lafave is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Physical Education at Mount Royal University. Lynne holds a PhD in nutritional sciences from the University of Manitoba and her research focuses on interrelationships between nutrition behaviours, attitudes, and knowledge with special interest in individual and organizational behaviour change. She and her team have developed the evidenced-based Creating Healthy Eating and active EnviRonments Scale (CHEERS) for child care. This work represents a collaboration with Alberta Health Services, ELCC directors and educators. The Government of Alberta – Children’s Services has funded a number of projects that have supported the integration of CHEERS across Alberta to promote healthy child care environments.

Project Coordinator – Alexis Webster BA


Alexis Webster holds a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Psychology from Mount Royal University. As the Project Coordinator, Alexis assists in education development and delivery while engaging with Early Learning Child Care centres.


Designer – Elena Nessler


Elena is in her final year of Information Design at Mount Royal University. As the Web Designer and Graphic Designer, Elena created and manages this website and CHEERS social media.



Sheila Tyminski, MEd, RD


Sheila Tyminski is the Director of Nutrition Services and Population & Public Health Strategy at Alberta Health Services.

MaryAnn Farebrother MEd


MaryAnn Farebrother is a member of the Faculty of Health, Community and Education at Mount Royal University in Child Studies and Social Work.
