What is a healthy meal?
At meals, offer a variety of foods from Canada’s Food Guide to help children grow up healthy.
- Fill half the plate with fresh, frozen or canned vegetables and fruits.
- Fill the other half of your plate with
– Protein foods such as: beans, peas, lentils, nut butters, eggs, fish, lean meats, milk, yogurt or cheese
– Whole Grain foods such as: brown rice, oatmeal, whole grain pasta or bread
- Offer milk with meals.
- Offer water throughout the day.
